The northern Brisbane growth corridor

Townhouses

Townhouses in South-East Queensland.

Morayfield · Burpengary · Moreton Bay

The short answer

Built, then looked after.

Altoro designs and builds three bedroom townhome communities in the growth corridor north of Brisbane, then manages them afterwards through its own division, Altoro Living. The team that builds the community is the team that still answers for it in five years.

The corridor is there for a reason. The Queensland Government Statistician’s Office projects the Moreton Bay region will add about 276,000 people between 2021 and 2046, the third largest increase of any local government area in the state. The railway line, the highway, the shopping centres, the schools and the hospital are already built. What is finite is the land left to build new communities on, and in suburbs like Morayfield most of it is already under construction.

Townhouses are what gets built there, because the arithmetic of a detached house on a full block no longer works for the families moving in. Three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a garage and a private courtyard, with the grounds and the pool maintained for you.

Questions

Townhouses, answered.

Where can I buy a new townhouse in South-East Queensland?

Altoro builds new three bedroom townhomes in the northern Brisbane growth corridor: Willowbrook (48 homes), Oaklands (67 homes) and Ashwood (24 homes, coming soon) in Morayfield 4506, and Parkview Terraces (48 homes) in Burpengary 4505.

What is a townhouse in Queensland?

A dwelling on its own title inside a community titles scheme. You own your home and your private courtyard, and you share the driveways, grounds and any pool with the other owners through a body corporate that maintains them.

Why are townhouses being built in the northern corridor?

Land and construction costs have put a detached house on a full block beyond many of the households moving north of Brisbane. A three bedroom townhome with two and a half bathrooms, a garage and a courtyard answers the same brief on a smaller footprint, closer to the station and the shops.

Who maintains an Altoro townhouse community after it is built?

Altoro Living, Altoro's own property management and caretaking division, takes over each community at completion. It handles caretaking and grounds for residents, and leasing and management for investor owners.

How fast is the northern Brisbane corridor growing?

The Queensland Government Statistician's Office projects the Moreton Bay local government area will add about 276,000 people between 2021 and 2046 on its medium series, the third largest absolute increase of any Queensland local government area.

Buying a townhouse in South-East Queensland

A townhouse in Queensland is a dwelling on its own title inside a community titles scheme. You own your home and your courtyard, and you share ownership of the driveways, grounds and pool with the other owners through a body corporate.

Body corporate explained, for Queensland townhouse owners

A body corporate is every owner in a community titles scheme acting as one legal entity. It maintains the common property, insures the buildings, enforces the by-laws and sets an annual budget funded by owner levies.

The Moreton Bay growth corridor

Moreton Bay is projected to add about 276,000 people between 2021 and 2046, the third largest increase of any Queensland local government area. Morayfield, Burpengary and Caboolture carry much of that growth, and much of the available land is already under construction.
